Devit was nervous. It was clear in the quick glances he aimed at Shito, his stiff step, and the way he clutched the strap of the black messenger bag he'd slung over his shoulder like it was a lifeline. He'd done is best to pretend like nothing was different or special about this, despite the fact that he'd even dressed nice. (Well, nice by his standards, anyway, which included black PVC pants that were slashed at the thighs and a dark, gray, zip-up vest.) He'd almost managed to convince himself before they left the dorms, in fact, but the longer they walked, the more his confidence dropped, it seemed.
What the hell did he know about dating, anyway? Nothing at all! Sure, they'd gone to the movies a few times--an option Devit would have happily gone with, if he'd had any money--but this was different, as much as he tried to pretend otherwise. This was him trying to do something nice for Shito, maybe even impress him a little with how thoughtful and creative he could be. This was him trying to be that... 'r' word.
Romantic.
Ugh, even thinking about it made him cringe and shudder. What the fuck had put such a dumb, harebrained thought into his head? Being sleep-deprived and lonely and watching black and white films at four in the morning? Ugh...
This was stupid. He was stupid and not nearly as creative without Jasdero, and Shito would surely realize it and laugh at him and--fuck it. This was going to be a fucking disaster.
Unfortunately, it was a bit too late to turn back, as they fast approached their destination. After a few more moments, Devit stopped and gestured ahead of them.
"Well... We're here!" he announced. Apparently, 'here' was a large park that featured an expanse of trees, the leaves of which had only recently changed to autumn shades of gold and red.
Devit cast a sidelong glance at Shito, waiting for his reaction.
